Regarded as one of the best defensive major league catchers of all time, Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez was elected into the 2017 National Baseball Hall of Fame. A 13-time Gold Glove Award winner, Rodriguez also was a seven-time Silver Slugger honoree. He was a 14-time All-Star and played for six teams during his 21-year career – Texas, Florida, Detroit, New York Yankees, Houston, and Washington. Named the 1999 American League MVP after hitting a record 35 home runs in a season by a catcher, Rodriguez also was the first catcher to have more than 30 home runs, 100 runs batted in, and 100 runs scored in MLB history. He won the 2003 World Series with the Florida Marlins and played in the 2006 World Series with Detroit. With the Marlins, he set many single season records for a catcher and was named the NL Championship Series MVP. Rodriguez holds an MLB record with 2,543 games caught, and he also had the best caught stealing percentage of any major league catcher (45.68 %). Rodriguez finished his career with a .296 batting average, 2,844 hits, 311 home runs, 1,332 RBI in 2,543 games.
